Telecoms
Our expertise
The telecoms sector is subject to constant technological and regulatory change, driven by innovations such as FTTH for landline networks, the roll out of 4, 5 and soon 6G for mobile networks, and the introduction of low-earth orbit satellites, etc.). These developments are influenced by shifts changes in European rules and the transition from ex ante regulation to ex post controls.
For many years, we have been regularly helping major players in landline and mobile telephone, internet access and satellite services. Magenta closely monitors these changes on a daily basis, ensuring that it is well-positioned to respond promptly to clients’ needs, and proactively anticipate future requirements. This proactive approach supports clients in their development and market positioning, contributing to their long-term success.
The Magenta team provides advisory services to mainland operators, French overseas operators (primarily in French Polynesia) and foreign operators seeking to expand their operations in France or on their local markets.
The services provided by Magenta mainly include:
- Advising and negotiating on a variety of agreements, including interconnection agreements, landline and mobile network access agreements. These include fibre, unbundling, MVNO, IRU, mast hosting and civil engineering access agreements.
- Providing support during the negotiation process for public service delegations to establish and operate fibre optics networks.
- Providing support in the award process and terms and conditions of use of scarce resources (e.g. frequencies, numbering resources and negotiations on potential infrastructure sharing agreements with operators).
- Litigation proceedings before the following bodies: the French Electronic Communications, Postal and Print Media Distribution Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) (dispute resolution and sanctions), the French Competition Authority and administrative and commercial courts as well as national and European regulatory bodies.
Finally, the Magenta team is regularly invited to speak at leading industry conferences and contributed to the debate on changes in numerous articles.
