Sylvain Justier, who holds a post-graduate Diploma in Commercial and Corporate Law [DESS-DJCE - Diplôme d’etudes supérieures specialisées – Diplôme Juriste Conseil d’Entreprise] from the University of Rennes 1, started his career in January 2001 at the CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre, working in the Europe, Competition and Economic Regulations Team. He was appointed Manager in the Team in 2006. In 2007, he joined the Antitrust and Regulatory Practice in the Chambers of White and Case LLP.

He has wide experience in competition law and handles numerous antitrust cases before the competition authorities and national courts. He provides a presence on the occasion of dawn raids and contests such operations. He represents applicant and defending businesses in cartel and abuse of dominant position cases, indemnities-based litigation associated with anti-competitive practices (having to date been involved in ten sets of private enfoncement cases in which sums of between several million and hundreds of millions of Euros were at stake). He also becomes involved in merger control, restrictive competitive practice and unfair competition cases.

In addition, he is a recognised expert in a number of regulated sectors, in particular the telecoms, energy and rail transport sectors. In addition to antitrust cases handled within these sectors, he becomes involved in all the problem regulatory issues his clients come up against and assists them with these, especially in the context of penalty proceedings or proceedings for handling disputes being heard before sectoral regulatory bodies (having been involved in numerous proceedings before the ARCEP – French Telecom – and ART - French Rail- regulatory bodies in particular).

Sylvain Justier appears as a recommended practitioner on competition and regulatory law in the whole body of professional guides and frequently addresses major conferences devoted to these fields of activity.

Vincent Jaunet, who graduated from ESSEC (E98) and holds a DJCE – DESS in Business Law (post-graduate degree) at Paris II Assas University, was part of the Europe, Competition and Economic Regulations team at CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre from 2003 until 2007. In 2007, he joined the Antitrust & Regulatory practice of White & Case LLP.

Specialised in competition law (collusion, abuse of dominance, State aids, merger control, restrictive practices and unfair competition), he has also developed his expertise in energy law, an area in which he frequently assists major operators such as suppliers, producers, traders or intensive industrial electricity users on all the issues they encounter: access to network, drafting and negotiation of gas and electricity purchase agreements, project development in the renewable energies sector (wind energy, photovoltaic, biomass), administrative procedure before national and Community authorities, relations with the regulator, etc.

Thus he helped a major industrial client in its negotiation towards the creation of an electricity purchasing consortium on the basis of long-term contracts as well as with the setting up of different partnerships with energy producers. He also assisted different clients, producers and consumers, in their steps to obtain a network connection for their production sites or important industrial consumption sites. He also led various assignments in relation to the exchange of greenhouse gas quotas.

Vincent Jaunet also frequently acts in the telecommunication sector (drafting and negotiation of interconnection contracts, provision of data for the universal phone book, rare resources allocation – numbers or frequency bands, purchase of telecommunication services, etc.)

Vincent Jaunet is also experienced in consumer law (distance selling, e-commerce, door-to-door sales, cross-merchandising, comparative advertising, etc.), and in areas related to the process of personal data.

Vincent Jaunet also regularly takes part in conferences dedicated to telecommunication, energy or competition law and is the author of many articles.

Gaël Hichri holds a Doctorate in Business Law obtained on the basis of a thesis on “The Distribution of Pharmaceuticals” (2007).

After gaining experience in several law firms in France and overseas, in September 2009, Gaël started his career in the “Competition, Distribution and Pharmaceuticals Law” Department of the Toison, Villey and Broud law firm. In 2011, he joined the “Antitrust – Competition Law” Department of Orrick, Rambaud and Martel where he subsequently became senior partner.

He developed specific expertise in the distribution of mass consumer, health (medicines, cosmetics and medical devices), luxury and gas products.

As a result of his involvement in competition and distribution law, Gaël Hichri has wide experience in advising and defending businesses in relation to anti-competitive and restrictive practices. Thus he is involved with his clients on a daily basis, working with them on the organisation of their distribution networks and on their business and pricing policies in relation to customers, suppliers and competitors. Gaël Hichri has represented his clients in proceedings before the competition authorities, in particular in cases involving vertical anticompetitive and restrictive agreements (eg prohibition of online reselling, retail price-fixing etc) and abuse of a dominant position.

Gaël Hichri has an extensive practice in relation to disputes between suppliers and distributors, as well as proceedings brought before the commercial courts by companies (competitors or clients) and the French Minister for Economic Affairs on the basis of Article L.442-1 of the French Commercial Code (sudden termination of established business relationships, significant imbalance, etc).

Gaël Hichri has published numerous articles on competition and distribution law, in particular in relation to the pharmaceuticals sector. Lastly, he gives courses on competition law for the Masters II degree in “Corporate Business and Tax Law” (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne).

Fanny Mahler holds Master’s degrees in Economic Public Law and European Business Law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University. She joined Magenta in 2017 after having spent seven years in the Public Law/PPP practice at Linklaters.

Fanny is a public law specialist. She has significant experience in public procurement (public procurement contracts, concession agreements), environmental law (classified facilities for the protection of the environment, water law, quarries, etc.), town planning law, public properties law, local authorities law and public accountability law.

She regularly advises on matters related to State aid, public sector companies (governance, transactions related to their shareholding), foreign investment controls, mergers, acquisitions and IPOs in regulated sectors. Fanny has also advised on public law issues arising out of transactions in Francophone Africa (e.g. public procurement, concessions, public private partnerships, etc.).

Fanny advises her clients, both domestic and international, on the legal frameworks applicable to their business. She has in-depth knowledge of and experience in many sectors, including energy (including renewables), infrastructure, telecommunication, broadcasting, mining, transportation, water, waste treatment, chemicals, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Fanny is involved in both transactional and litigation matters before domestic and European courts – including regulatory authorities and arbitration tribunals – where she acts on behalf of private operators, financial institutions and public sector entities (administrative authorities, public bodies, state-owned companies, etc.).

Fanny is a co-founder of the French Association on State Aid Reporting (Association du Suivi des Aides d’Etat, ASAE).

Morgane Silhol is a graduate of Queen Mary University (L.L.M. – Intellectual Property) and of the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (Master II – European Union Economic Law).

Having started her career at Magenta in 2014, Morgane Silhol has developed an expertise in competition and distribution law and in contract law.

In litigation, Morgane Silhol assists the firm's clients in proceedings before the French Competition Authority: visit and seizure operations and contestation of these operations, supporting companies in their application or defense during the instructional procedures (responses to information requests, preparation of management hearings, replies to statements of objections and reports, transactional discussions, etc.)

More broadly, she regularly represents the firm's clients in litigation proceedings before the civil and commercial courts (compensation actions, contractual and commercial litigation namely.)

Morgane Silhol also advises national and international companies in all sectors on a daily basis to meet their operational needs or to assist them in their commercial negotiations (organization of their distribution network, contract development and negotiation, review and negotiation of single agreements, invoicing rules, payment deadlines, etc.)

She has also worked on several occasions with companies wishing to familiarize their employees with the rules of competition law (training, organization of situational exercises for their employees in the event of an inspection by a competition authority).

Manon Michaud holds a Master’s degree in European Law and Litigation from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas and is graduated from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne in Public Administration and Management.

She joined Magenta in July 2019. Prior joining the firm, Manon completed several internships in the legal affairs and internal audit departments of administrations (French General Secretariat for European Affairs, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the French public agency for international technical assistance and Conseil départemental des Hauts-de-Seine).

Lénaïc Godard graduated with a Master Degree in Contract and Competition Law (Paris Saclay University) and with a Master Degree in Economy and Law (Pantheon Assas University). Lénaïc also has a PhD in law after defending a thesis entitled “Competition Law and Restrictive competition practices Law”, which was awarded the 2021 competition law thesis prize by Bruylant publisher.

Lénaïc joined Magenta in September 2021 after having completed several internships in Antitrust and Competition departments of White & Case, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Latham & Watkins Antitrust & Competition and in the legal department of Bouygues Telecom.

Lénaïc’s practice focuses on European and French Competition Law (antitrust, merger control, restrictive competition practices), both as counsel and in litigation. He also deals with distribution and consumer law issues.
